Simply put, yes. There is a university for everyone and even if you don’t get the grades you need, you can go through the clearing process to explore alternatives or even new options. At Swansea, our Admissions team are on hand to answer any questions you might have, we also offer foundation courses as well as academic support for when you join. Explore more about clearing here.

One of the biggest concerns can be the cost of going to university, most UK students will pay for their tuition fees and living expenses by applying for financial support through the relevant Student Finance websites. Don't forget you may also be entitled to a scholarship or bursary -at Swansea University you could receive up to £3,000! Firstly, don’t panic and you are not alone. Clearing is a great way to speak to either your chosen university and explore the options there or you can speak to other universities who may have places on the course you want to study. At Swansea we can be flexible around certain offers. It’s best to register for clearing as early as possible so you don’t miss out on any vital information. Register for clearing here.

Going to university is an exciting time but it’s a big change and making sure the university you want to go to has the right support systems in place is important. If you are already holding a place at another university and are considering Swansea, you can self-release yourself into clearing from July 5th. Over 40% of students who went through clearing last year did it via self-release. You can learn more about self-release or you can contact us to discuss your options around self-releasing. 

You can use clearing Self-Release via UCAS Hub if you have accepted a place at another University but have decided you want to come to Swansea.

However, do make this decision carefully as you may lose your place at your original university if you decide you’ve made a mistake.

If you apply through UCAS for September 2023 you will automatically be entered into the Clearing process if you are not accepted by your firm and insurance choices, or if you submit your application after 30 June.

If you become eligible to use Clearing an 'Add Clearing choice' choice will become available on your UCAS Hub. Alternatively, you can check directly with your firm and insurance choice universities.

For many students, Clearing only becomes available once their results have been released and if they haven’t met the entry criteria required. A-level results day in 2023 is Thursday 17 August.

If you haven't got a live UCAS application don’t worry, you will still be able to apply directly to Swansea University. You can call us on 0808 175 3071 from the beginning of July and our team will talk you through the process.

Of course! We will be holding a number of Clearing Open Days between 18-22 August, where you can visit us and discover life as a Swansea University student.

There will be opportunities for you to tour the campus and talk to members of staff in your chosen subject faculty.  Booking for these events will open on results day (Thursday 17 August).

We cannot discuss your child's application unless you have been nominated on their UCAS form, or have their permission. 

With permission, we can advise you directly on accommodation, the kind of support they will have when they arrive, and general information about the University, Swansea and the surrounding area.

If you are appealing your grades, and we have made you a clearing offer onto a foundation or other alternative course based on your current grades, please note that we may be able to move you onto your preferred course if your new grades match our entry requirements for that course.

Please note that this excludes any commissioned/clinical courses which are funded by Welsh Government.

If you haven't already applied through UCAS you can still apply to us for this September.

Once your eligibility is confirmed, you can apply using our online application form.
