Engineering students working in labs

Academics at Swansea University's College of Engineering have been working hard over the last year to provide the best possible learning experience to their students - something which is not an easy task when the majority of their study involves working with physical parts in on-campus laboratories.

Students on two modules are now benefitting from creative resources that the College is providing with the aim of enhancing learning and assessment.

70 students on a Digital Manufacturing module have been sent 3D printers on loan to their homes, allowing them to practice problem solving and design work for assessments. Lecturers on a Data Integration in Mechanical Systems module have also gone the extra mile for over 220 students, creating technical kits that can be delivered or collected from campus. These consisted of a programmable micro controller, a sensor and connecting leads, which altogether will teach students about data capture through digital sensors.
