A new term time park and ride shuttle bus from Fabian Way park and ride to Bay Campus will now run until June 7th for staff and students. 

The free shuttle bus for Swansea University staff and students, operated by South Wales Transport, will run every 15 minutes during peak times between the Fabian Way Park and Ride and the Bay Campus, directly and on a loop. This will supplement the existing 90a service which will continue to operate as it does currently. There is a £1 charge to park at the Fabian Way Park and Ride

As soon as you know your Swansea address, you should apply for your mytravelpass. It’s a free pass, there’s no admin fee and you’ll get one third off all your bus travel!

If you're aged under 22 when you start at Swansea University, you're eligible to save some money with mytravelpass.

What is it?

mytravelpass is a bus pass that gives those aged 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 discounted travel. These discounts apply to the flexi 5 bundle and on-bus purchases including termly and annual bus passes. 

Where can I use it?

You can use this pass on any bus in Wales, not just on First Cymru's Uni Bws network. 

How much is it?

The pass itself will cost you nothing! Presenting your pass to the bus driver will give you up to a third off the ticket price. The pass will last up until your 22nd birthday.

Where can I buy it?

You can apply for mytravelpass over on the scheme website or by calling 0300 200 22 33 and requesting a paper application form. You must live in Wales to be eligible for the mytravelpass. Your student accommodation does count, so don't worry. Once you've sorted your accommodation out, make sure you sign up. It's free after all!

Private hire vehicles do not ‘rank’ and can only be pre-booked.

Booking & Payment

• If pre-booking a taxi, we recommend you use a company with an app. This will mean you have a confirmed time, the registration number of the vehicle, and will be able to track the vehicle via the app. Data Cabs offers a downloadable app.
• Most taxis require payment by cash. Approximate prices can vary between £10 and £14 (to city centre from Singleton, Bay Campus). Please note that taxis are metered, so unless a price has been agreed, traffic delays mean the price might go up.

Taxi Ranks

• The main night time taxi rank based in the city centre is located on Caer Street at the top of Wind Street.
• There is another taxi rank servicing Wind Street which is located in York Street (adjacent to Little Wind Street where the nightclub Fiction is situated).

Travelling Safely by Taxi

Follow these top tips for safe taxi travel:

• Take a photo of the badge showing the taxi plate number, using your mobile phone.
• Sit behind the driver if you are alone.
• Try and share the journey with other students that you know.
• Do not enter the vehicle unless the driver has two matching ID badges; one in the cab on the front dashboard, and one worn by the driver.
• There should only be one driver on board and no other passenger in the vehicle already.
• A meter should be visible, and a price agreed for the journey.
• Never get in a car unless you know for certain it is an official Taxi Cab.

Please note that it is mandatory to wear a face mask when travelling by taxi.

The two bus stops on the Singleton Park Campus are located outside Fulton House which is the main building you see when you arrive on campus.

If you need to catch any of the other local services that don’t come onto campus, there are bus stops out on the main road in front of the campus.

At the Bay Campus, the bus stop is located to the east of the residence buildings on the west side of the Computational Foundry building. You can see the bus stop location on the campus map: Bay Campus Map. 

For other services that don’t come onto campus, there are stops out on the main road, just outside the front of the campus.
