APPLICATIONS FOR SUMMER 2024 HAVE NOW CLOSED

Summer Camp USA allows you to sepnd up to 8/9 weeks living and working in the USA as a Camp Counsellor at a traditional American summer camp. There are different types of positions to choose from including:

General camp counsellor
Special needs counsellor
Lifeguards
Activities specialist

You will be able to choose the camp you want to apply for, enjoy camp pocket money of approx $2000 and your food and accommodation will be covered whilst on camp.

Costs and Funding

Programme cost for 8-9 weeks: £379 which includes
- all food and accommodation
- pre-departure orientation day
- visa support
- certificate of eligibility (DS-2019)
- travel medical insurance
- 24/7 help on the ground
- 30 additional days on J1 visa to travel in the USA
Additional costs to consider:
- flights
- police background check
- US Embassy J-1 visa
- You may incur additional costs not listed above

Students may need to pay additional costs which are not outlined above. All of the above figures are estimates and are subject to change.

FUNDING AVAILABLE

£500 per student or £750 per WP eligible student

Funding is available to support a maximum of 10 eligible Swansea University students.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Any programme days beyond 31st August 2024 will not be funded.
If you fail to participate in the entire programme, you will be required to return any funding received
You will receive the first instalment of funding awarded when you arrive in country and start your programme. A second instalment will be paid at the end of your programme, once your duration has been confirmed.

Eligibility

Students must be enrolled at Swansea University
Students cannot be in the final year of study
Postgraduate students can apply for funding but must provide evidence that their academic supervisor approves of their participation.
International students should speak to International@CampusLife to check the impact of the work placement on their Student Route visa

Widening Participation Criteria

annual household income of £25,000 or less (rising to £30,000 for Go Global bursaries)
students receiving Universal Credit or income-related benefits (for Taith and Turing only)
care leavers and care experienced students
care givers (excludes Taith)
estranged students.
refugees and asylum seekers.
first international or professional experience (for Santander only)
