About

I am a teaching focussed academic with a particular focus on teaching through the medium of Welsh.

I am a Physical Geography and Geology lecturer working at Swansea for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol. I completed my undergraduate degree in Geology at the University of Leicester in 2003 – 2007 and specialised in geochemistry, igneous petrogenesis and physical volcanology. I then moved to Edinburgh where I completed my PhD which focused on the tephrochronology of Holocene silicic tephra layers in Iceland (https://www.era.lib.ed.ac.uk/handle/1842/5834). After finishing my PhD I came to Swansea to work as a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant in the tephra research group and studied micro-ash horizons in the Greenland Ice cores. In 2012 I moved to Glasgow University where I began teaching Earth Sciences and was course-coordinator for all Level 1 modules before returning to Swansea to take up my current teaching position.
