About

Dr Meinir Williams is a Tutor in the Welsh Department, Swansea University. She completed her doctoral studies in Linguistics at Bangor University, and was a lecturer in Phonetics and Bilingualism there before moving to Swansea in 2026.

Her research uses quantitative methods including questionnaires, acoustic analysis and attitudinal experiments to investigate the pronunciation of Welsh by adult language learners and attitudes towards new and traditional speaker accents. She has been a Welsh for Adults tutor and is very keen to support Second Language students.

In addition to her interest in minority language acquisition Meinir is interested in developing language technologies. She has worked with the Language Technologies Unit in Bangor University, Cereproc and NHS Wales on a project to develop Welsh and Welsh English text-to-speech voices for children who use Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
