Dr Andrew King is an Associate Professor at Swansea University specialising in animal behaviour.
Andrew uses a question-oriented approach to address a range of issues in ecology and evolution, specialising in the study of animal social behaviour. His research involves collaboration across disciplines and sectors to apply behavioural studies to the effective management and conservation of wild populations.
He is Head of SHOALgroup and member of the Behavioural Ecology and Evolution Research Theme in the Department of Biosciences. Andrew has previously held Fellowships (NERC, AXA) at Universities in the UK and awarded visiting and honorary positions in Europe and Africa. He is an experienced Journal Editor.
Andrew is Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and recipient of the University’s University Excellence in Learning and Teaching Award. He has held various leadership roles related to Post-Graduate Research (PGR) student monitoring, progression, and compliance, and has created acclaimed PGR programmes at Masters and PhD Level. Andrew is Director of the MRes Biosciences degree programme.
Andrew is an award winning presenter and Plenary and Keynote speaker. He regularly communicates his science in Print, Online, on TV and Radio, and delivers bespoke workshops and seminars providing an evolutionary perspective on leadership and teamwork.
