The National Institute for Sport & Health (NISH) is a leading innovation hub dedicated to shaping the future of sport, health, and wellbeing. The Institute brings together entrepreneurs, researchers and industry leaders in an environment designed to accelerate ideas and elevate impact.

The initiative, funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal, supports Swansea University’s aspiration to be recognised as the most active and successful sporting university in Wales, and enables the development of groundbreaking inventions in healthcare and medicine, leveraging cutting-edge research in life sciences and technology to boost economic growth and elevate the sporting landscape through world-class facilities.

Facilities

NISH works closely with partners at the Institute of Life Science within Swansea University. Through these partnerships, NISH and its members have access to a diverse range of state-of-the-art facilities and services

NISH also has state-of-the-art office space and hot desking options available to organisations in the sport, technology and wellbeing sectors, which are located on campus, opposite Singleton Hospital and within Swansea Bay Sports Park.

Partners

NISH is funded by Swansea Bay City Deal and supported by Swansea University, Swansea Council and local health boards.       

Its directory of members includes local SMEs and startups, national sporting bodies, the NHS and multinational corporations including tech giants Vodafone. Companies can join NISH and collaborate with other members, undertake research with Swansea University academics, and benefit from exclusive events and training opportunities.
