Developing interactive immersive data analytics rooms for coaching staff.
This PhD project, funded by the Swansea Bay City Deal and in collaboration with Swansea University’s Simulation and Immersive Learning Centre (SUSIM), is developing new ways to visualise and interact with the outputs of data modelling and analysis. By displaying information on three interactive walls in an immersive simulation suite, coaches and practitioners are able to interact with the data, and each other, in ways that are not possible when more traditional paper or laptop-based formats are used.
We are exploring different ways of displaying various combinations of data and information, such as video, tactical, technical, physiological and more. We are then aiming to understand how people interact with these, and how such approaches might have the potential to improve discussions and decision-making amongst multi-disciplinary performance support teams.
