There is no parking on campus for students between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday, so if you’re living on campus or close by, cycling or walking is your best form of transport.

In line with our Sustainability Strategy, we encourage students and staff to choose active and sustainable travel options wherever possible. For those living further afield then we recommend the local bus services.

If you require reasonable adjustments for medical issues, live out of the Swansea University bus zone area or have dependent children in our crèche, you may be eligible for a parking permit.

Introduction of Automatic Numberplate Recognition System Across Our Campuses

From 1 June 2023, both the Bay and Singleton Park Campus will be covered by an Automatic Numberplate Recognition System.

  • There is no parking for students on campus between 8am until 4pm, Monday to Friday (except for those with a valid permit - see below)
  • Student out of hours permits are available at a cost of £20 per year, allowing students to park on campus from 4pm to 8am, Monday to Friday and on weekends free of charge.
  • Outside of these hours, those without permits can pay to park.

Pay to Park Pricing

Between 4pm and 8am, Monday to Friday and on weekends, those without permits will be able to park on campus, provided they pay to park as per the prices below (n.b. out of hours permit holders are not required to pay to park on top of their permit cost, during this out of hours period.)

Pay to park pricing has been benchmarked against local parking facilities and is as follows:

Parking on campus costs:

  • £2.00 for 4 hours from the time of payment
  • £3.50 for 24 hours (not including 8am-4pm Monday to Friday when there is no parking on campus for non-permit holders)
  • £2 for overnight parking from 1600 hrs to 0800hrs

Students and visitors parking on campus between 8am and 4pm Monday to Friday, without a valid permit will be issued a parking charge notice. This applies even if a parking ticket is purchased from a ticket machine.
