Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?

As an international applicant looking to study business in the UK, I applied to various universities. I received offer letters from 10 universities including Swansea University. However, I decided to stick with Swansea for the following reasons:

The School of Management at Swansea University is accredited by several bodies like CIMA, The CFA Institute and the ACCA which reassures students of the quality of education delivered. The Employability team works 24/7 to help students land jobs and internships in their time at Swansea University. The International Students team and Student Support works round the clock to answer queries and provide the necessary aid requested by students.

Swansea University offers several scholarships and financial aid to international students. I was offered a £4000 Bursary which significantly influenced my decision to come to the university. As an international student, the financial aid is of significant importance.

There are a lot of opportunities in Swansea University to grow as an individual. The clubs, societies and volunteering activities provide all-round development to students.

Can you tell us about your course and what do you enjoy the most?
I am currently pursuing my postgraduate degree in Swansea from the School of Management. My subject of specialization is International Business Management. Even though I am a software engineer, I have experience working as a Data Analyst for a Multinational Company. In my time there, I realized I thoroughly enjoyed understanding the business strategies adopted by our various clients and the importance of management in the corporate world. As a Business Analyst in the making, Swansea’s programme seemed liked the perfect opportunity offering the best of services to students both domestic and international. I thoroughly enjoy collaborating with my classmates on the assignments and attending doubt solving sessions with my professors. The recordings and reading lists provided have been extremely helpful. The course design helps us understand the modules through practical examples and research.

What are your three favourite things about Swansea?
Swansea is a beautiful city in Wales. However, here are a few reasons that personally influenced me to come to this place.

Swansea is the most economically feasible option for an overseas student like me. The availability of part-time jobs is more and the cost of living is considerably less compared to other places in the UK.

Swansea serves as the perfect destination to have time to yourself. Academics can be frustrating at times, having a beach to go and unwind definitely helps maintain your sanity and provides the much-needed rejuvenation.

It is a perfect blend of a planned city that has managed to conserve nature. It has all the amenities, megastores, theatres, gardens and recreational areas. The place is bustling with food trucks and eateries and the people are extremely warm and pleasant.

Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?
Yes, I would definitely vouch for Swansea University. In my time here, despite the pandemic, the services and quality of education offered by the Management and staff was top-notch. My queries were answered within 24 hours and I was constantly supported by the teachers, Student Representatives and the Student Council. There were various sessions and activities arranged for students to keep us engaged in these trying times. I believe the management at Swansea have gone above and beyond my expectations in every domain and every student deserves to experience a place like this.
