Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?
The reason that I choose to study at Swansea University is because of the location of the school.
First of all, Swansea is near to Cardiff, the capital city of wales and it is not too far away from London so it is efficient for an international student to travel around the Wales while holidays like Christmas and Easter.
But unfortunately, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, a lot of Wales’s cities are in lockdown so there is nothing left except essential shops such as supermarket are open. And in this depress situation, Swansea students are actually having a natural geographical advantage of not only near the one of the most beautiful beaches in Wales, Bay Beach which is located right next to Bay campus and Swansea are also close to different sightseeing spot and city that either good for travelling or having marvellous views such as Caswell, The Mumbles and Rhossili Bay.
Last but not least, education of Swansea University. Swansea University provided a very high range of course for students to choose such as business management, psychology, engineering etc. And among them, Engineering in Swansea University is one of the best courses in the UK.
Can you tell us about your course and what do you enjoy the most?
I am studying business management, the reason I choose this course is because it does not only focus on management but it also includes marketing. I have not found a clear career path therefore I wanted to keep my options opened and I wanted to know more about both dimensions. And in my year 1 course, they have both lectures and seminar that are recorded and are provided through Canvas. The system of Canvas was not too complicated to use especially under the pandemic, support to students is readily available whether it is mental or help with studying as it is very important for students to perform well in these difficult times. The most enjoyable things about my course are that it provided me with the fundamental knowledge of each business dimension like marketing and management that are the basics of business, and also accounting and finance.
What are your three favourite things about Swansea?
The top 3 things on my favourite list about Swansea are the view, the kindness and the warmth of the people in Swansea, and the guarantee of employment. The view of the bay campus is one of the reasons why people want to study in Swansea. It is next to the bay beach and enables the students to swim, party, set a campfire, you name it. In addition to this, the people in Swansea are created an environment of welcoming sprite and it helped me as an international student to assimilate into the society. Last but not least, Swansea university provide a bunch of job opportunities for students in year1 to 3, and they will keep updating the information to you through email no matter you asked or not.
Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?
I will definitely recommend Swansea university to the people who want to study abroad in the UK. The university provide a lot of support to the international students like me and the population of international students in this university are very diverse as well, you will also find someone that is sharing the same culture with you. And more importantly, Swansea University can provide you a different university life because it is so close to the beach, and it helps me conquered a lot of hard time while studying by the peaceful that a great sea view gave me.
