The University of Wyoming is a land-grant university located in Laramie, Wyoming. Situated on a high plain between two mountain ranges, the Snowy Range and the Laramie Range, the city's elevation above sea level is about 7,165 feet. Because of the high elevation, winters here are long, with the summers short and relatively cool. Laramie averages approximately 11 inches of rain annually. The University has four residence halls and four apartment complexes; locally you can visit the American Heritage Centre, UW Art Museum, UW Geological Museum, UW Anthropology Museum and UW Insect Museum. There is also a local on call service called SafeRide, which was founded in 2000 to prevent drink driving. University of Wyoming athletics teams are named the Cowboys and Cowgirls, and their colours are brown and Gold. They have two mascots, ‘Cowboy Joe’ which is a live horse and ‘Pistol Pete’ which is a costume student. The university also had an Outdoor Program which offers many activities for outdoor enthusiast.

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.
