Italy, in the South of Europe, is home to the greatest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the world and so you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to things to do while on placement besides studying or working! Most of Italy has hot, dry summers, with July being the hottest month of the year. Autumns are generally rainy and winters are unsurprisingly colder in the North and milder in the South.

Important Considerations

• To determine if you need to apply for a visa, please refer to the Italian Ministry of Foreigh Affairs website and answer the four questions. 
• For a stay in Italy of more than 90 days, you will need to apply for a visa. You will need the following documents:
  • Entry visa application form
  • Recent passport size photograph
  • Valid passport with an expiry date three months longer than that of the requested visa
  • Letter of acceptance from host university
• You will need to prove that you can support yourself financially and cost will vary depending on location and living costs
• You can apply for a Global Health Insurance Card (GHIC) but, you might also need additional health insurance. 
• Accommodation options will vary depending on where you study, you should ensure you submit your housing application by the deadline.
