Students studying together

Aarhus University is the largest and second oldest research university in Denmark and is ranked among the top 100 of the world’s best universities. The university is located in central Aarhus with the university park located at the centre of the main campus. The largest student organization at Aarhus University is the Student Union (Studenterrådet) who represent the main student body and arranges annual concerts and seminars, and publishes the student magazine Delfinen (The Dolphin).  Each year more than 1000 international exchange students study at Aarhus University for one or two terms and in 2011 Dale’s Café was opened as a meeting place for international students and the university's PhD students.

It will not be possible to complete a year abroad at this University if you have any assessments, such as supplementary or deferred exams, during the August assessment period at Swansea University.

Important Considerations

  • Students can access a residence permit application form online. You are advised to submit your application as soon as possible. More information is available here
  • The housing application is integrated into the admission application. Housing offers will be sent to successful applicants by 1 July (Autumn semesters) and 15 December (Spring semesters). Students must accept their housing offer and pay first month’s rent and booking fee by credit card within 48 hours.
  • Aarhus strongly recommends that students purchase travel insurance prior to travelling to Denmark.
  • Aarhus estimate the monthly cost of living to be approx 1000 Euros this includes rent, meals, local transport, books, and personal expenses. Expect a rise for 24/25.
