Ieithoedd Modern Cyfrwng Cymraeg 1
Nod y modiwl hwn yw datblygu dealltwriaeth sylfaenol o'r cysyniadau ieithyddol allweddol sy'n hanfodol ar gyfer astudio Ieithoedd Modern a Chyfieithu trwy gyfrwng y Gymraeg.
Nod y modiwl yw atgyfnerthu ac ymestyn eich sgiliau iaith a hwyluso eich cynnydd ym maes cymhwysedd ieithyddol gan sefydlu dealltwriaeth graidd o ieithyddiaeth. Bydd y darlithoedd a'r seminarau yn manteisio ar y tebygrwydd cynhenid rhwng Ffrangeg/Sbaeneg a¿r Gymraeg, gan ganolbwyntio ar gonglfeini iaith (geiriau a strwythurau), mecaneg benodol pob iaith, a'r ystod o gyd-destunau lle maen nhw¿n cael eu defnyddio (gan gynnwys technolegau iaith). Trwy archwilio cysyniadau ieithoedd gwahanol, bydd modd i chi wella eich dealltwriaeth ramadegol o'r ieithoedd penodol a¿r elfennau iaith sylfaenol cysylltiedig. Yn ogystal ag atgyfnerthu eich dealltwriaeth o elfennau o ramadeg y Gymraeg a defnydd o¿r iaith, bydd y sesiynau yn eich helpu i ddatblygu rhuglder a chywirdeb yn eich Ffrangeg/Sbaeneg ysgrifenedig a llafar, gan ymestyn eich cymhwysedd i ddarllen, ysgrifennu, dehongli a siarad am faterion sy'n berthnasol i gymdeithasau a diwylliannau cyfoes Ffrangeg/Sbaeneg fel sy'n briodol naill ai ar lefel B1+ (myfyrwyr ôl-Safon Uwch) neu ar lefel A1+ (yn achos Dechreuwyr) o'r fframwaith Cyfeirio Cyffredin Ewropeaidd ar gyfer Ieithoedd (CEFR).
Un o nodau eraill y modiwl yw gwella eich rhagolygon cyflogadwyedd trwy ddarparu gwybodaeth sylfaenol am ddefnyddio Ffrangeg /Sbaeneg a¿r Gymraeg mewn cyd-destunau yn ymwneud â'r byd gwaith, gan gynnwys cyfieithu a thechnolegau iaith eraill. Cynhelir y dosbarthiadau trwy gyfwng y Gymraeg a¿r Ffrangeg/Sbaeneg. Yn ogystal â gwaith dosbarth, disgwylir i chi wneud llawer o waith astudio preifat hefyd.

Nod y modiwl hwn yw datblygu eich sgiliau iaith ac ymestyn eich cymhwysedd ieithyddol trwy ganolbwyntio ar gyfieithu. Capital(ising) Culture: Reimagining the city
Cities have always been centres of culture and power. They are dynamic settings which are ever-changing and evolving yet carry traces of the past which can be made visible in art. They have been crucibles of modernity across the western world, marked by technological innovation, migration, war and civil unrest, and socio-economic hegemony. Large conurbations and capital cities can become representative of their countries or nations, making their study a gateway to understanding the wider culture. Via this module, you will study the intersections of history and the built urban environment as articulated in a selection of films, short fiction, plays, reportage, paintings or music which have been inspired by cities such as Berlin, Paris, and Barcelona amongst others.

Classes are taught primarily in Spanish and focus on real-world communication. You¿ll take part in interactive activities that strengthen your listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in a supportive and stimulating environment. Independent study is an essential part of the module, helping you consolidate your learning and prepare for more advanced language use in academic or professional contexts.

Theory and Practice of Translation
The question of how to evaluate a translation has occupied linguists since antiquity. In this module, some of the main issues from the rich history of this discussion will be presented. For example, one of the oldest issues is to what extent equivalence in translation can be achieved. An example of a more modern question is: what is the right unit of translation (why not word-for-word?, what type of larger units?). We will also consider cultural and philosophical aspects of translation, the impact of technology on translation and the question to what extent the translator is (and should be) visible or invisible.

Community Interpreting
Community Interpreting is a broad term that includes Public Service Interpreting (PSI) but also covers informal or semi-formal settings within the community. Typical contexts where community interpreting takes place include local community events, cultural gatherings, and grassroots advocacy. It emphasizes accessibility and inclusion for minority language speakers and typically involves cultural mediation and relationship-building. Whilst it can be less formal than PSI, it still requires professionalism and adherence to ethical standards.
In this module you will learn techniques and develop strategies for performing dialogue interpreting between parties who do not speak each other's language. There will typically be a mixture of short interactive lectures on relevant aspects of interpreting theory and practice, to complement live bilingual and multilingual scenarios, and language laboratory practical sessions.
