Blending academic rigour with real-world relevance, the programme offers you a balanced mix of research-led teaching and practice-based learning, providing you with the tools to succeed in a rapidly evolving sector.

Your Marketing Experience

Throughout the programme, you will have access to teaching staff that have extensive professional experience. Through lectures, tutorials and one-to-ones, you will be able to absorb their academic expertise, building your knowledge of how marketing works in the professional world. The teaching team is diverse in nature, allowing you to benefit from the ability to draw on their vast experiences from both industry and academic settings.

While the programme is single honours, it also draws on expertise from across the School of Management, integrating themes of study from psychology, data analytics, ethics and organisational behaviour. This interdisciplinary approach ensures you can gain a holistic understanding of marketing within broader business and societal contexts.

Modules are designed to reinforce each other across years and themes, ensuring a coherent and engaging student experience. Learning is scaffolded across the programme to support progressive development of your knowledge and skills, as well as your professional identity. You will begin with foundational marketing principles, and will gradually engage with more complex, critical and applied content, culminating in capstone experiences that synthesise learning through real-world projects, consultancy or research. Taught modules are delivered in-person and are delivered through a combination of lectures, labs, seminars and workshops.

Assessment is varied and inclusive, designed to reflect real-world marketing tasks and to accommodate a range of learning styles. Methods include presentations, reports, portfolios, digital artefacts and strategic plans, alongside traditional essays and exams.

This programme includes opportunities to undertake a Year Abroad, enhancing your learning and offering invaluable life experience. 

This course also offers you the opportunity to spend a Year in Industry, in the UK or overseas, enabling you to gain valuable workplace experience. The University advocates for paid-only placements, which on average have a salary of over £20,000. Unpaid placements are considered on a case-by-case basis. 

The optional Foundation Year for this programme can give you an exciting introduction to higher education, setting you up with the skills, confidence, and knowledge that you’ll need to be successful in your undergraduate degree. It’s ideal if you need a little more support after further education, or are returning to education after a gap. Following successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress onto Year 1 of your BSc.
