Our midwifery team use a blended learning approach to deliver the course using a combination of taught sessions and self-directed learning.
At present, all teaching is done online due to Covid guidelines. The online teaching, where you will be physically apart from your lecturer, can be ‘live’ with your lecturer present and where you’ll be able to interact with some pre-recorded sessions for flexibility. Some of it may also be self-directed which means that you can access the learning materials at a time to suit you.
Usually, this course is taught in a ‘blended’ way. This means that some teaching will be done online and some will be on campus.
Your face-to-face, on campus sessions will be a mixture of:
- Hands on midwifery skills
- Universal Skills such as PPE/handwashing, blood pressure and temperature recordings
- Life support skills
- Manual Handling
- Using your digital Practice Assessment Document
- Employability sessions
- Student welfare support
Your online learning and teaching may include:
- Group work & reflective practice sessions
- Academic support during office hours
- Hot topic debates and discussions
- Revision sessions
- Q&A time
This course offers some modules taught through the medium of
