About

Dr Salim M Salim CEng MIMechE SFHEA develops and coordinates strategies for international student recruitment and partnership for Engineering. He engages with external stakeholders to progress institutional collaborations and raise Swansea University's profile and reputation. He travels globally to establish educational partnerships and deliver guest lectures and research talks.

Dr Salim has gained extensive experience in transnational education having lived and worked in Asia, Middle East and Africa. He has developed research collaborations in Malaysia, China, Italy and Japan, published over 40 articles and presented at international conferences. His research expertise is in CFD and Urban Fluid Mechanics.

Dr Salim instructs on Engineering Analysis and supervises research projects in Computational Fluid Dynamics with a focus on Urban Fluid Mechanics, Fluid-Structure Interactions and Turbulence Modelling. 

Dr Salim is a registered Chartered Engineer and elected Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. He is also a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (Advanced HE). Dr Salim is an Honorary Senior Lecture (Associate Professor) at the University of Dundee and Adjunct Faculty at Saveetha University, India. He is also a member of the UK Fluid Networks Urban Fluid Mechanics Group.

Dr Salim's research expertise and interests are in turbulence modelling, large eddy simulation, urban air pollution & wind prediction, atmospheric boundary layer flows, and fluid-structure interactions. He has experience supervising both MSc and PhD projects and is happy to take on PhD students with a keen interest in CFD based on ANSYS FLUENT. 

Dr Salim has presented his work at international conferences, contributed to a number of journal publications & book chapters, supervised PhD projects, acted as external examiner and invited to review research articles. He has conducted joint research in Italy and Japan, and established research collaborations in Malaysia and China.
