Dr Chrum is an enthusiastic molecular geneticist and biochemist focused on both applied and laboratory-based research. Within her research career, Rachel prides herself on having a wide range of skills spanning from the generation of novel and complex cell models to clinical studies.

The main focus of Churm's research is based on adiposity within disease, in particular obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Current projects focus on the inter-relationships between hormone regulation, adipocyte function and glucose homeostasis. Rachel has close links within the Diabetes research group based at the Medical School, working in collaboration on numerous projects.

Teaching Interests

Rachel teaches at undergraduate level within Sports and exercise science, covering a range of topics from genetics to quantitative data analysis. In addition to postgraduate supervision, Rachel is also involved in MSc Diabetes Practise based in SU Medical School.
