Two women showing a child something on a phone.

This two day event will focus on issues around supporting families and learning in Wales and further afield.

Hosted by the Department of Education and Childhood Studies, Swansea University, the seminar will build on the extensive and innovative work in the department, supported by presentations from external speakers.

The two keynotes for the seminar will focus on work on the two ESRC funded projects in the Department. The first, Tots, Tech and Talk, examines the digital lives of children across the UK, from birth to the age of three. This ground breaking research looks at families’ experiences and perceptions of the use of digital devices with very young children, particularly in relation to speech and language.

The second relates to work led by Dr Jacky Tyrie at Swansea, Embedding children's rights (5-7) in pedagogical practice in lower primary classrooms in Wales.

Papers are also welcomed from staff and students at Swansea University, and from practitioners, teachers, local authorities and other interested parties, please see the call for papers HERE.

Thursday 2nd November – Friday 3rd November, from 9 – 4.30pm.
