Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity (EDI)

Our Purpose

The Faculty of Science and Engineering EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) Committee (FEDIC) is to be a representation of the ‘voices of all’ within the Faculty. FEDIC will promote the value of different identities to create a culture that is respectful and inclusive irrespective of age, disability, ethnicity, sex, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, ethnicity, sexual orientation and religion or belief across the Faculty. It will work to develop and promote a supportive and inclusive working environment for all staff and students, enabling all people to reach their full potential.

Faculty Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Committee (FEDIC)

Our Aim

Responsibilities and Duties

Promote and embed diversity, equity, and inclusive practices into Faculty culture.
Ensure a transparent evidence-based processes to identify and prioritise EDI aims and objectives.
Support the delivery and implementation of the Faculty EDI strategy ensuring alignment with University EDI strategies.
Work in collaboration with School EDI committees, to share best practice and identify cross-cutting themes and EDI strategy.
Delegate work to School EDI committees, and form task and finish groups for the execution of change initiatives.
Work with external and internal EDI contacts to further advance Faculty and University EDI strategic agenda (including collaborations with other Faculties)
Annually review quantitative and qualitative data to monitor progress on initiatives on an annual basis.
Report on progress against EDI agenda to the Faculty Leadership Team and the Equalities Committee via the Faculty EDI lead.
Allocate budget to activities, initiatives and organisation of events
Disseminate information, strategies, and activities related to the work of the committee to FSE staff and students.
