Two Swansea University researchers have been successful in the latest round of Health and Care Research Wales funding awards.
The recipients of Health and Care Research Wales Faculty’s personal funding awards were announced today, with all awards due to begin on 1 April 2026.
Through the Advancing Researcher Scheme, personal award funding has been awarded to researchers from across Wales. All new personal award holders automatically become members of the Health and Care Research Wales Faculty, gaining access to tailored support, mentoring, training resources and networking events across Wales.
Michael Bowdery, Head of Programmes, Science, Research and Evidence Division at Welsh Government, said: “I am delighted to congratulate this year’s Advancing Researcher Scheme awardees as they begin the next phase of their careers.”
Swansea University recipients are:
- Dr Helen Daniels, Data Scientist, Population Data Science, Swansea University Medical School

Award period: April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027 - Dr Maria Cheshire Allen, Social Scientist, Swansea University
Funding amount: £43,283
Award period: April 1, 2026 to March 31, 2027
