Swansea University are delighted to announce that we will be hosting the International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference (IEEC) 2022.

A leading forum for expert discussions about embedding enterprise into the curriculum and developing the skills of students to make them more entrepreneurial, the IEEC is a world-renowned conference for enterprise and entrepreneurship educators.

The IEEC has not been hosted in Wales for over 10 years, allowing Swansea to demonstrate the fantastic developments that have taken place both locally and regionally in that time.

With over 300 delegates in attendance, Swansea University will be able to show exactly why Swansea was declared the world’s first ‘entrepreneurial’ city by UNESCO and in 2020 was recognised as the fourth best place in the UK to start a business.

Speaking on behalf of Welsh Government, Minister for the Economy Vaughan Gething said:

“The Welsh Government is committed to working with our partners to develop an entrepreneurial culture here in Wales. As a nation that’s internationally recognised for our strengths in entrepreneurship education, Wales’ Further and Higher Education institutions play an important role in developing the entrepreneurs of the future through their teaching and learning.

“I am delighted Swansea University will be hosting this prestigious international conference, that will provide a great opportunity for teaching practitioners across Wales to learn and share good practice on the global stage.”

Gareth Trainer, Enterprise Educators UK Director, and Chair of the IEEC2022 Conference Steering Committee, said:

“We are delighted to be hosting IEEC2022 at Swansea University and bringing our increasingly global community back to Wales. Swansea University, together with the rest of the HE and FE enterprise educator community in Wales, has been responsible for some of the greatest innovations and achievements in EntEd, with the forward-thinking support of the Welsh Government.

I know I speak on behalf of all my colleagues when I say that we are truly looking forward to taking our learning and experience to the next level whilst enjoying the legendary hospitality, by the beach, of the brilliant Bay Campus of Swansea University."

Professor Paul Boyle, Vice Chancellor at Swansea University, said:

“We are delighted that Swansea University has been named as the host of the International Entrepreneurship Educators Conference in 2022. Through our University’s Enterprise Strategy, we have successfully embedded enterprise and entrepreneurship across our institution, and are committed to helping to support and shape the next generation of entrepreneurs. We very much look forward to welcoming delegates from across the globe to Wales next year.”
