Swansea University has retained its UK top 25 position in the prestigious Guardian University Guide, ranking 24th nationally and is once again top in Wales in the latest 2022 edition, published on Saturday 11 September.

The Guardian University Guide has established itself as a key league table for UK universities and is one of the top choices for students around the world when deciding which university is right for them.

The latest Guide features league tables ranking 121 universities on a number of criteria, including student satisfaction scores based on courses, teaching and feedback, as well as the rate of students dropping out and the proportion of graduates in professional level employment or further study after graduation. It also contains league tables ranking universities by subject area.

For course satisfaction, the rating for the overall quality of the course given by final-year students in the latest National Student Survey, Swansea is ranked 6th in the UK for the second year running.

Swansea also climbed nine places to rank 22nd in the UK for teaching satisfaction, while graduate prospects remained at 23rd.

At subject level, seven subjects feature in the UK top 10:

  • Anatomy and Physiology – 3rd
  • Medicine – 4th
  • Criminology – 6th
  • American Studies – 6th
  • Engineering: Materials and Mineral – 8th
  • Media & Film Studies – 9th
  • Nursing & Midwifery – 9th

A further five subjects appear within the top 25% of their respective subject tables:

  • Law
  • Biosciences
  • Health Professions
  • History
  • Computer Science & Information Systems

Despite the challenging times we have faced over the past year, we have retained our position as a UK top 25 university and have remained the highest-ranked university in Wales for the third year running. The student satisfaction results within this guide are also a testament to the effort and commitment our staff have made to ensure learning continued and that students were supported during the pandemic.
