A Swansea University Medical School academic has been honoured for his innovative approach and contribution to teaching.
Dr Aidan Seeley, senior lecturer in BSc Medical Pharmacology, won the prestigious Rang Prize (non-Clinical) at this year’s annual awards presented by the British Pharmacological Society.
The award, which comes with £1,000 prize, recognises excellence in teaching and is presented to candidates who have made an exceptional contribution to the teaching of clinical or non-clinical pharmacology in the past five years.
Dr Seeley, who is also deputy Programme Director, said: “To receive the prize is a great honour and privilege and it stands testament to how Swansea University has given me the freedom to explore and develop new and engaging ways to deliver our BSc Medical Pharmacology programme.
“As an early career educator, receiving an award which has previously been won by renowned leading educators within the pharmacology field, is a career highlight. It also further encourages my pursuit of improving the educational experience for our students at the Medical School. “
Head of Medical Pharmacology Professor Lisa Wallace, who is a Fellow of the British Pharmacological Society and currently sits on its Council, congratulated Dr Seeley on his achievement.
She said: “Winning this prestigious, highly competitive award is an outstanding achievement for Dr Seeley. It reflects his excellent skills as a teacher and pharmacologist.
“His enthusiasm for pharmacology and ability to communicate complex scientific concepts in a clear, concise, and entertaining way are both of tremendous benefit to our students. He is also a supportive role model for students and staff alike. Well done, Aidan!”
