The partnership between Swansea University's Academi Hywel Teifi and Tafwyl continues once again this year as the popular festival moves online due to the coronavirus pandemic.
All Tafwyl Digidol (Digital Tafwyl) events will be livestreamed on Saturday 20 June, with Academi Hywel Teifi holding sessions in the festival's virtual Llais area.
Established in 2006, Tafwyl is an annual festival celebrating the Welsh language, arts and culture which usually culminates with a number of open-air events in the grounds of Cardiff Castle.
In Y Tu Hwnt i’r Terfyn at 1pm, adventurer and ultra-marathon runner Lowri Morgan will be in conversation with broadcaster Beti George about her new autobiographical book, Beyond Limits. Lowri, an honorary fellow of Swansea University, will reveal what has enabled her to develop the strength and resilience to tackle some of the planet's toughest environments and how she’s pushed her mind and body beyond pain, beyond her expectations, and beyond limits.
In Stomp y Ganrif at 3pm Professor Tudur Hallam from the Department of Welsh will lead a special poetry slam to celebrate Swansea University's centenary in 2020, with the teams comprising of students and alumni of the Department of Welsh. Among them are singer Huw Chiswell who graduated in 1982; Aneirin Karadog who completed his PhD earlier this year; writer and broadcaster Gwennan Evans; actor Andrew Teilo who is currently studying an MA in Creative Writing; Laura Hughes; Matthew Tucker and others.
Dr Gwenno Ffrancon, director of Academi Hywel Teifi, said: "Academi Hywel Teifi is very proud to support the Tafwyl Digidol festival by contributing sessions in the virtual Llais area of the festival. This is the fifth year in which we have worked in partnership with this special festival to promote the Welsh language and to share the work and expertise of writers, scholars, alumni and distinguished friends of Swansea University."
