Modern Language Pathways

All students enrolled on our BA Modern Languages programme are invited to chart their own path through our degree scheme. This unique set-up allows students to choose modules in Cultural Studies, Translation, and Second Language Teaching and Pedagogy from the moment they arrive at Swansea University. Upon completion of their studies, students are able to evidence their area of specialisation to prospective employers. Alternatively, students may wish to take modules from different pathways in different years, thus demonstrating a broader range of knowledge and expertise.

Details of our Culture and Society modules can be found on the appropriate page of each language. Modules available to students following the Teaching pathway include Introduction to Language Teaching, Teaching MFL to Young Learners, and Classroom Practice. For those wishing to specialise in translation, available modules include Translation Workshops (available in all languages), Introduction to the Theory of Translation, and Computer-Assisted Translation.
