About your Student ID Card

All Swansea University students are issued with a Student ID card, sometimes also called a library card.

Your Student ID card allows you to:

swipe in to record your attendance at lectures
borrow items from the library
use the library printing, copying and scanning services
access certain study rooms and labs
identify yourself at University exams
obtain sports and student society memberships

How do I get my card?

If you are a new student, you can collect your card after you have enrolled. First, you'll need to upload a photograph for your card. Click the sections below for more information.

How do I upload my photo?

Log into your MyUni account and select Intranet.
Go to the student profile summary page. (This is the default page outside of enrolment periods. During enrolment periods, click on the Upload Photo button on the Student Online Enrolment page, as shown in the screenshot below.)
On the student profile page, click the 'Choose file' option and select an image to upload from your device. The numbers above and to the side of the image on the profile page represent the dimensions of the image (150 pixels wide and 180 pixels high). If the image you upload does not match these dimensions, it will be automatically resized for you.
After selecting a file, a warning will be displayed prior to uploading, informing you of any cut off dates and requirements for the image. Click the 'Upload Photo' to finish the process.
You should now see your changed photo along with a success message.
Your photo will be checked by the MyUni Library team within a few days of uploading. If it is unsuitable you will be notified by email and asked to repeat this process.

What guidelines does my photo need to meet?

For your photo to be accepted:

It must be a clear, passport style and recent headshot of you.
You should be facing forward and looking straight at the camera.
Your eyes must be open and clearly visible with no sunglasses or tinted glasses
Please have no hair across your eyes.
The photo must be of your full head, without any covering, unless it is worn for religious beliefs or medical reasons.
The photo must be of you on your own, with no other people visible.
The photo must be in colour, not black and white.
Be vertical and portrait orientation.
Be approximately 150 pixels wide by 180 pixels high and .jpg format.

Where can I collect my card?

Your card collection location depends on the course you are studying and where it is based. Please read our ID Card Collection page for more information.

Make sure you've completed the checklist below before you go to collect your card:

Upload your photo so that we can print your card in advance of your visit
Complete your online enrolment
Check your collection location and opening hours
Remember to bring the passport or alternative ID which you uploaded to the intranet before you enrolled

Looking after your card

When you've collected your card, be sure to look after it! Please take care not to bend or punch holes in the card, as this can cause damage which can prevent the card from working with some systems.

If your card has been lost or stolen, please report this to MyUni Library as soon as possible.

If you need a replacement card, please visit the MyUni Library Desk at Singleton Park Library or Bay Library, with some photo ID. There is a £4.00 replacement charge for lost or damaged cards.

Important Notice

You must carry your university ID card with you at all times when on campus and present it to university staff upon request. Never give your university ID card to anyone else to use under any circumstances. If you are unable to attend lectures in person, you should inform your department. If you are unable to collect library items in person, you should inform MyUni Library. Improper use of your university ID card can result in you receiving a formal warning and further action may be taken by the university. This may include removal from your course.
