Washington State University (WSU or Wazzu) is a public research and land-grant university in Pullman, Washington. The Pullman campus of WSU is 620 acres, based in the Palouse region. The University is ranked among the top 5 safest colleges in America, and boasts a low student-faculty ratio of 15:1. WSU’s athletic teams are called the ‘Cougars’ and their mascot is ‘Butch T. The university has a160,000-square-foot Student Recreation Centre (SRC), which was the largest in the United States when it was opened in 2001. The SRC includes elevated indoor running tracks, four basketball courts, two volleyball courts, roller hockey rink, four racquetball courts, swimming pool, 50-person Jacuzzi, a ropes course, a 7,305-yard championship golf course and various exercise and fitness equipment. Pullman's climate is classified as dry-summer humid continental, which typically experiences warm, dry summers followed by cold, snowy winters with short transitional seasons in between. Pullman averages 21 inches of precipitation throughout the year.
