Holly studies Law and American Studies and spent a year at University of Windsor

I will never forget my time at the University of Windsor in Canada. Going on a study abroad year is the best decision I have ever made.

Windsor itself is a smaller tight knit city but it’s bursting with character. The University held events like ‘Welcome Week’ which made socialising really easy. Because it’s a border city to the US, it’s amazing for travel opportunities, which was really appealing to me. Before I went on my year abroad I had never stepped foot in North America and now I have been to over 8 different cities within the USA and Canada.

Not only was my time abroad enriching in terms of social and cultural experiences but academically it exceeded my expectations as well. I was able to take classes that I wouldn’t have been available to take at Swansea including Canadian Law classes. My work ethic has changed for the better, as their teaching comprises of smaller more frequent assignments rather than larger one off assessments like Swansea, which has made me a more independent learner.

Before departing the Go Global team addressed safety concerns, cultural considerations and travel preparation as well as continually checking in throughout my time abroad, so I knew I was in good hands. Studying abroad is something I think everyone should do if they can; it gave me the ability to see the world and study in one package. I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone that was considering going; you would not regret it.
