Increasing dietary omega-3 PUFA in farmed Nile tilapia

Sergio is investigating how to increase dietary omega-3 PUFA in developing Countries through the production of sustainably farmed Nile tilapia, reared on improved microalgae diets rich in omega-3 oils, proteins and vitamins. Modulation of the gut-flora of the fish to enhance the absorption of micro-algal nutrients will be also studied. This project is co-founded by Swansea University and CSAR.
