Jess is working with the SAERI to study brown trout in the Falkland Islands. Her project will use a combination of techniques including eDNA, acoustic tagging and stable isotope analysis to determine the distribution of brown trout and native galaxiids, assess the population structure of brown trout and their impacts on native galaxiids. Her PhD also aims to determine how brown trout have spread around the Falklands. Any findings may aid in protecting refuges for native fauna that brown trout have yet to exploit. She is funded by Fortuna Ltd and Swansea University.
