Due to the growing concerns and increasingly worrying implications of the new global pandemic, on April 3rd we marked the beginning of the COVID-19 Response Campaign at Swansea University; identifying two key areas which needed immediate financial support.
Firstly, using the University’s crowdfunding platform WAVE, we set out to support the Student Hardship Fund, which had been inundated with applications from the most vulnerable in our student community who worst affected by the nationwide lockdown. The University has dramatically increased its contribution in this area and received tremendous support from our alumni and friends. We were blown away with the response to this initial campaign raising over £12k in just four weeks. A few weeks later, we expanded our campaign to inject crucial finances into increasingly important COVID-19 research projects. We have since moved our campaign to a new platform which allows us to put donations to good use immediately!
The support shown to the fund has advanced spectacularly and we could not thank you enough for helping us in these difficult times.
