Undergraduate January Entry

Enrolment, welcome and induction starts Monday 18 January, with teaching starting on 25 January.

The timetable for undergraduate courses it that you will start in January and finish your course in September, and then go directly into the 2nd year, where your course will follow the traditional pattern.

At the moment we are offering students (for most courses) a choice of online only study, or a blended approach, where some teaching will be online and some will be in person, on campus.

For most courses, apart from subjects like medicine or health sciences, you can choose to study online only.

Yes – you will have time off for Easter and Christmas. Exact dates TBC.

You will get the results of your first year in September 2021, then if you have completed the first year successfully, you can enrol onto year two straight away. Teaching for year two starts on 27 September 2021 and you will follow the usual undergraduate teaching timetable from then on.

For undergraduate courses for home students, it is likely that the January start option will only for be for 2021. 

Enrolment begins on the 18th January. We would advise you to apply with plenty of time to ensure you are able to complete any necessary requirements prior to enrolment.

The student experience is different this year and our university community has to comply with government guidelines. Students have formed a household bubble with the people they live with, whether that’s in university halls of residence or in private accommodation. They are socialising with those people.

We have built outdoor social spaces where students have been socialising, with food and drink available. These spaces are also used for film nights, pilates and yoga classes. Students are still playing sport and taking part in the activities of their clubs and societies. The gym has will be open when government guidelines say it is possible to do so.

Yes, there will.

We can’t say exactly what will be happening as we’re not sure what government guidelines we’ll be following at that point, but we will be running events , either virtually or physically, where you can make friends and join clubs and societies. We hope to be able to continue to operate our outdoor social spaces on both campuses.

Yes – you can apply for the same loans and grants that you could if you wanted to start in September. You must not have enrolled in an undergraduate course at a UK university in September/October 2021. Please visit our finance web pages for more information.

For Undergraduate courses (UK and EU students), you can apply for student finance in the normal way.

Yes – we offer Excellence and Merit Scholarships for high achieving students. Other scholarships may also be available. 

If you start your UG or PG course in January 2021, you have to pay the home fees, not international fees. If you start in September/October 2021 you will have to pay international fees. See your chosen course page for exact fees. See also our tuition fees web pages.
