Costs: The programme fee and accommodation costs are covered by Swansea University. 

Funding: Bursary towards travel and any other costs: £500 or £600 for widening participation students 
Funding is limited and not guaranteed for all applicants. Funding applications are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. 

Dates: NJTU summer school runs for 2 weeks in early June, exact dates TBC shortly.

Programme details

The Nanjing Tech University Summer School is a two-week residential programme designed to combine academic learning with cultural immersion. The programme structure includes:

 

  • Chinese Language and Cultural Workshops: Practical language classes focused on developing confidence in everyday communication, complemented by hands-on cultural activities to deepen understanding of Chinese traditions.
  • Academic Lecture Series: Themed sessions delivered by university academics, focusing on global sustainability challenges, climate change mitigation, and strategies for achieving carbon neutrality.
  • Industry and Innovation Visits: Organised off-site visits, including tours of Chinese companies and insights into innovative sectors such as cross-border e-commerce and digital broadcasting.
  • Cultural Excursions in Nanjing: Guided tours to the city’s most iconic historical and cultural sites, including the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum and the Confucius Temple.
