Why did you choose to study at Swansea University?

The subject of my Fulbright grant proposal was researching the Kindertransport and particularly those Kinder that spent time in Wales. I looked for experts in this area and found my now advisor, Rebecca Clifford at Swansea. She also gave a glowing recommendation for the university.

Can you tell us about your course and what do you enjoy the most?

I am utilising my background as an oral historian and researching the history of the Kindertransport and Wales. I am hoping to interview Kinder who left Nazi Germany and eastern Europe before World War II and spent time in Wales as children. I am really enjoying my research so far, digging into archives and reading memoirs, and am very thankful for the helpful faculty and staff at Swansea.

What are your three favourite things about Swansea?

  • The scenery - I’ve loved a few walks/hikes I’ve done around the Swansea area
  • Welsh hospitality - Swansea is super friendly and easy to navigate
  • Brynmill Park and its swans

Would you recommend Swansea University to other international students?

Definitely! The university has been so supportive and helpful, especially navigating COVID protocols. And Swansea itself is a great smaller city that is a wonderful home base for exploring the rest of Wales, the UK and even Europe.
