About

Mrs Tanya May is an academic in Hispanic Culture and Translation in the Department of Modern Languages, Translation and Interpreting at Swansea University. She has extensive experience in industry overseas and has previously worked in the higher education sector in the UK. Her experience as a journalist in her native Venezuela, gives her a first-hand insight into the political landscape of Latin America, particularly Venezuela. In 2009 she was awarded a Master of Arts (M.A.) focused in Translation with Language Technology from Swansea University. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) since 2018. Her research interests include Latin American Radical Left, with a focus on Chavismo. She has contributed to some media outlets in the UK as a political analyst, consultant and cultural mediator, and with a strong focus on employability skills, Tanya is currently coordinating the internships at MA level in Translation. She is also a freelance Spanish interpreter working in mental health settings.
