About

Maria Cheshire-Allen is a researcher and PhD candidate at the Centre for Innovative Ageing at Swansea University, UK. She holds a BSc in Philosophy and Sociology and MSc in Equality.  She has worked on several large research projects including the ESRC 'Sustainable Care' programme (2017-2021). Her research interests lie in ageing, care, gender and social policy.  Her research is informed by a previous career working in various policy and campaigning roles for NGOs in Wales, as well as working as a carer for older people.

Career Highlights

Research

My PhD research is focused on wellbeing and older family carers. Informed by an ethics of care perspective the study aims to develop a policy orientated empirically grounded conceptualisation of wellbeing in the context of family carer. 

This qualitative study is funded by the Wales School of Social Care research and is due to complete in December 2021.
