Jon Beale, Football Performance Manager

Jon provides leadership and management across our men’s and women’s football and futsal performance programmes. Jon supports the development and delivery of a strategically focused football and futsal performance framework and plan, mirroring the standards and deliverables of a professional club. Jon also contributes towards the continuous growth of competitive success in BUCS, Varsity fixtures and Welsh Leagues, maximising BUCS points where possible. Jon has an extensive background in sport, he is an accredited management graduate, specialising in Leisure and Sport. Jon is a UEFA A Licence coach, former Academy Manager at Hull City FC in addition to being Head of Academy Coaching at Swansea City FC also.

Gareth Beer, Strength and Conditioning Coach

Gareth designs, delivers, and monitors strength and conditioning support to high performance athletes and sport clubs at the University. Gareth has vast experience supporting many athletes in different sports and has previously worked with Welsh Rowing, Welsh Judo and Scarlets Academy. Gareth is an ex semi-professional rugby player with interests in kick boxing, MMA and is currently training for an Ironman. Gareth is extremely passionate about sport, high performance, strength and conditioning, nutrition, physical activity and enjoys travelling.

Ross Endersby, Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach

Ross designs, delivers, and monitors strength and conditioning support to high performance athletes and sport clubs at the University in both a gym and field-based setting. Ross has over 5 years’ experience working with multiple sports including Swimming, Rugby, Football, and Hockey. Ross has previously worked for teams such as MK Dons and Bedford Blue. Ross is keen to develop any athlete he works with in order to improve their performance as well as their general wellbeing to create the best athlete possible for their sport.

When are trials?

Trials for this year's intake will be held on 1^st & 2^nd of October. Information for these will be available at Freshers’ Fayre.

Is there anything I need to do to sign up?

You need to complete a basic form relating to playing history when signing up for trials.

Do returning students need to re-trial?

No returning students do not need to re-trial.

How many BUCS teams do we have?

The Football Club has three men’s and two women’s BUCS teams.

Where do we train?

Training takes place at Swansea Bay Sports Park and Fairwood Training Ground.

Is there an intramural league if you don’t play BUCS?

Yes there is an intramural league that members can join if they do not play BUCS.
