Swansea University remains top in Wales in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020

The league table ranks universities on nine indicators, including student satisfaction with teaching quality and their wider student experience, research quality, graduate prospects, entrance qualifications held by new students, degree results achieved, student/ staff ratios, service and facilities spend, and degree completion rates.

The University’s strengths in terms of student satisfaction and wider student experience have been a significant factor in this year’s ranking success, helping Swansea top the league table in Wales for the second year running. Within the table, Swansea is ranked in the UK top 20 for student experience and is testament to the wide array of opportunities available to students to enhance their time with us. For example, the university is partnered with over 100 institutions abroad with many degrees offering overseas opportunities for students.

Swansea also continues to impress with its figures for graduate prospects. It is ranked among the top 12 in the UK on this measure, and through the Swansea Employability Academy, provides paid internships alongside co-ordinating plans for career development. The university is working to widen its participation, and from next year the Swansea University Outreach Unit will be trying to generate further interest in higher education amongst a wide range of underrepresented groups in Wales.

Having previously been crowned Welsh University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide twice in the past three years, these accolades show that our students value their experience and time here at Swansea, and are supported as they go on to enjoy excellent graduate prospects. This latest achievement reflects the hard work and dedication shown by all of the staff and students across the University, and we will endeavour to build on this continued success as we embark on a new academic year.”

The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2020 will be published in The Sunday Times on Sunday 22 September, with two further supplements to be published on Monday and Tuesday, September 23 and 24. These will focus on the best universities for teaching quality and student experience and the universities that come top in different subject areas.
