The university is located in Bonn on the banks of the river Rhine; it is an hour’s drive south of Cologne and just an hour and a half from the Belgian border. Bonn is in one of Germany’s warmest regions, winters are cool but summers are quite mild. Bonn is the alma mater of Karl Marx and Friedrich Nietzsche.
