General English Programme

The course has 15 hours of tuition per week, taught in the mornings and students have the option of adding IELTS classes two afternoons a week for an additional cost. Part of the morning programme includes a dedicated focus on presentation and writing skills.

Students can choose how many weeks they study for, from a minimum of 1 week to a maximum of 8.

All classes are taught on campus and all students enjoy the benefits of being enrolled as Swansea University students. For students considering study at Swansea, it is an ideal opportunity to experience studying on campus and to experience life in Swansea.

Course objectives:

• To improve student confidence in both spoken and written English
• To improve student understanding, reading, and listening in English
• To improve core English grammar and vocabulary
• For prospective Swansea University students, the course provides the opportunity to study on campus and get a feel for life as a Swansea student

• These classes are not credit bearing so cannot be used for university entry; however, participants will receive a certificate of attendance at the end of the course.

ELTS has a duty of care to safeguard all students aged under 18 in its care. ELTS will ensure the safety and protection of all under 18s enrolled on its programmes through adherence to the Safeguarding guidelines that we have adopted.

We will endeavour to ensure that under 18s are protected whilst studying at ELTS. We will do this by:

• making sure all staff are carefully selected and DBS checked.
• providing appropriate training for staff in issues of child protection.
• providing a dedicated Safeguarding Officer who meets all under 18s on a weekly basis.
• taking attendance and monitoring student behaviour.
• ensuring that students are supervised during lessons and trips.
• adhering to the University Safeguarding Vulnerable groups policy.
• providing students with a 24-hour emergency contact number.
• providing each student with an under 18s handbook.
• checking all homestay providers are DBR by the accommodation providers
• ensuring trips and activities will be age appropriate with risk assessments undertaken
