My favorite moment was getting my first donation. During my campaign, I was told of the most hilarious stories from their time at Swansea, which often resulted in some great tips and advice. It’s taught me advanced interpersonal skills, teamwork and about the different career paths, I can follow into.
My advice to future callers would be to be yourself, go with the flow, and try to find out about their career if they’re doing something that interests you. I’d spoken with an alumnus who studied computer science and chemistry back in the 1970s and moved to the USA after a few years. He taught me about the first computers and the evolution of computer science which was really interesting.

My personal highlight of the campaign is going from a room full of strangers to a room full of friends and an awesome team. I’ve learnt the value of conversation and how powerful memories of the University can be for many people. I’ve also learnt that there are universal things about Swansea that bring people here and they don’t tend to change.
The best advice I could give is to smile when dialling, I know it sounds a lot friendlier when I do. It's been most entertaining confirming people’s ancient and embarrassing emails, they’re visually hilarious.

It's great to talk to students from all walks of life. I have learned that your degree doesn’t necessarily mean you will follow a career in that field, having a degree opens so many more doors for later life, helping to accelerate both your personal and professional growth. My Advice for future callers is to be natural and enjoy listening to the heartwarming storys. One time I spoke with a 70-year-old man who loves Swansea so much he comes back every 5 years. He met his wife here and they were married before graduation.

The telethon is all about having good conversations and making friends. I’ve learned how to communicate and engage with lots of different people through great calls. I've learnt the importance of keeping motivated throughout and enjoying my time on the calls, even if the response is negative. I was fortunate enough to chat with a man who has traveled the world since leaving and he gave me loads of amazing advice.

It’s been terrific to hear about the different careers and ways in which people have benefitted from their University experience. I found it surprising how friendly and open our Alumni were to talk about their experiences so my advice for anyone would be to keep calm, they’re just people like you and I so don't be nervous. Don’t think too hard about it and learn from each person you call.
