Geoffrey Thomas.

BSc Physics. Class of 1962. Scholar. Educator.

Geoffrey Thomas graduated from Swansea University with first class honours in Physics. From Swansea he went on to Churchill College, Cambridge to complete his PhD. Following a year as a research associate at the Cavendish Laboratory Geoffrey returned to Swansea as a staff tutor, where he remained for 12 years.

In 1978 he moved to Oxford as a fellow of Linacre College and Deputy Director of the Department of External Studies. In 1986 Geoffrey became the Director of the Oxford University Department for Continuing Education. He remained a fellow of Linacre College until 1990 when he became the first President of Kellogg College Oxford.

Geoffrey has been a visiting scholar at the Smithsonian Institute, Harvard University, University of Washington, University of California, Berkley and Northern Illinois University. He has also been a member of the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and the British Association for the Advancement of Science. Geoffrey is also the Chairman of Global Teacher Education Inc, a US based Foundation for promoting global education. In 2014 he was elected a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales.
