Nikki Williams was born in Swansea and went to the University of Westminster, graduating in 1989 with a BSc Life Sciences (Physiology) degree. She wanted to experience living, studying and working in a big city and thoroughly enjoyed her 10 years there. Nikki completed her PGCE education training in 1998. Nikki is the programme manager for Respiratory and Sleep Physiology – this involves teaching at undergraduate level and managing all aspects of the programme including visits to placements areas across Wales. She is also running an ARTP spirometry centre and teaches primary care staff to manage respiratory conditions.

All aspects of Lung Function and Sleep Disordered Breathing are two areas of Physiology that Nikki finds interesting and is currently researching.

Nikki has continued her studying by completing the following CPD courses;
- Optimising the management of COPD: Sept 2014.(30 credit, level 7)
- Respiratory examination: Dec 2014. (15 credit, level 7)
- Respiratory Diagnostics: Aug 2015. (30 credit, level 7)

Nikki works as an honorary respiratory physiologist in ABMU, this enables her to keep the clinical skills and knowledge required as a Senior Lecturer up to date. Technology is a big part of Nikki’s life, as it is really important in Respiratory Physiology. Nikki likes nothing better than to solve problems with equipment and software.
