Keith is professor of psychiatry at Swansea University, and an experienced health care leader and clinical academic
Keith's main innovation activity is at the interface between wellbeing and sport as lead for the Swansea Bay City Deal funded National Institute for Sport and Health (NISH)
His main research activity is in suicide and self harm research and routine data. I'm a co-applicant of the new Health and Care Research Wales funded National Centre for Suicide and Self-harm Prevention.
Clinically Keith is an honorary consultant psychiatrist working in a community mental health team.
External activities include chairing Health Technology Wales, and being the General Medical Council's registrant council member for Wales. Keith is also a trustee of Swansea's Volcano Theatre Company, and of Heartbeat Trust UK
Previously Keith was Swansea University's Pro Vice Chancellor for Medicine Health and Life Science (2020-2025), an independent board member of Swansea University Heath Board (2020-2025), and Dean of the medical school at Swansea University from 2012-2020. Between 2016-2020 he was the elected Vice President of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and chair of the RCPsych in Wales. From 2010-2012 Ihe was head of NISCHR - the Welsh Government body then responsible for policy, strategy, and funding of health and social care research in Wales.
