About
Dr Holly Morse is a senior midwifery lecturer and early career researcher. She is the programme director for the CertHE Maternity Care programme, committed to widening participation in Higher Education and access to healthcare careers.
A recipient of a Swansea University Research Excellence Scholarship (SURES), she completed her PhD in 2022. Her research explored the potential of social media to improve breastfeeding support within maternity services and was recognised with the PGR Award for Outstanding Public Engagement, along with national nominations for Excellence in Research and Midwifery Education. Holly has a specific interest in digital innovation, and works to develop new approaches to integrating technology in teaching and learning.
Holly works with the Lactation, Infant Feeding and Translation (LIFT) Research Centre on health projects that bridge gaps between families and maternity services. She also created the Ai2 Project, which focuses on building assessment resilience and promoting the ethical use of generative AI in healthcare education. Holly is passionate about growing research culture and capacity in midwifery at Swansea University, working to develop research within the discipline by attracting postgraduate students and supporting early career researchers.
With over 25 years’ experience in Higher Education, Holly’s background spans social science, midwifery, and public health, alongside leadership roles in parenting support and social services. She currently sits on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Birth and Parenting Education.
