Dr Gwennan Higham joined the Welsh Department at Swansea University as Lecturer in October 2016, having previously completed a doctorate at the School of Welsh, Cardiff University, on teaching Welsh to immigrants; platform to an inclusive Welsh citizenship. In 2013, she won an award by the 'Conseil supérieur de la langue française' in Quebec where she carried out research on linguistic integration and the French language in Montreal. She has experience in teaching Welsh to adults, especially developing Welsh language provision for immigrants. She is currently working on a European project entitled 'Communication compentences for migrants in bilingual work communties'. Her forthcoming book is entitled: 'Creu dinasyddiaeth i Gymru: mewnfudo rhyngwladol a'r Gymraeg' (UWP 2020).
Dr Higham welcomes applications from PhD candidaites working on Welsh as a second language, minority languages, migration, integration, multiculturalism and citizenship.
