Next Steps After Swansea
After finishing my studies, I moved back to Israel — where I was born — to begin my career as a sport scientist. As the field was still developing at the time, it took several months to establish myself and secure a role. I started as a part-time Research Coordinator at the Wingate Institute Sports Medicine Centre, which progressed to a full-time position. During this period, I also connected with the Israel Paralympic Committee to support the launch of a new sports analytics project. Alongside my professional work, I am currently studying for an MSc by Research in Sport and Exercise Science.
Current Role
Performance Director & Analyst, Wingate Institute and Israel Paralympic Committee
I now serve as Performance Director for the Israel Paralympic Team, where I lead and manage multidisciplinary support staff and conduct research to inform evidence-based performance strategies. My role focuses on athlete development and training optimisation across multiple sports, with particular emphasis on Wheelchair Tennis and Sprint Canoeing. I use a range of sport science methods including lactate testing, biomechanical assessments, heart rate monitoring, GPS data and detailed video analysis to support performance. Leading into the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, I worked closely with the Sprint Canoe squad to fine-tune recovery and race preparation, and with Wheelchair Tennis players to deliver live analysis and opponent scouting at major international events.
Impact of Swansea
My degree provided a strong foundation across the core areas of sport science, which now allows me to effectively manage support teams and identify the precise needs of athletes. Lecturers consistently challenged my thinking and introduced new approaches to performance analysis, while access to advanced sport science facilities expanded my understanding of emerging technologies. My involvement with the university tennis programme — including serving as president in my third year — also strengthened my leadership, organisational, and team management skills.
Highlight
A defining career highlight was contributing to the Israel Paralympic Team’s success at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games and being part of a medal-winning campaign.
Advice
My advice is to start building your professional network as early as possible. Connect with people in the field, attend conferences and workshops, and make use of university's careers services. Understanding how the sporting world is structured — and how different roles connect — is invaluable for long-term success.
